The Old Gods

Long ago, three gods came to be:

Silva, the god of life, who created the continents and the fauna and flora that live upon them;
Energia, the god of the arcane, that instilled upon the land and its creatures the power of magic;
And Civitas, the god of civilization, that governed society and taught his subjects how to create.

Together, they created the world of Arca.

The inhabitants of Arca prospered, and were joyous. There existed massive cities, with fantastic technologies, and all the civilizations of the world were bonded and grew as one.

But Civitas was not a fair god.

He loved some cities, some races, over others. He created wicked creatures, to challenge his subjects so they might earn his favor. He created a world were one must fight to earn his love and favor, or perish.

When his siblings saw what he had done, they were furious, for they loved their children and did not wish to make a world where they might suffer. Confronted, he rallied his subjects against his ilk, and only after a war that left the world ravaged, did he finally succumb to defeat. The gods stripped him of his powers and his voice, and banished him to the shadows, where he could see the world but never again be a part of it.

But the gods looked upon their world, and saw that it was broken. They departed, to create a world anew. But Civitas remains- he lurks in the dark corners of the world, biding his time and his strength so that he might return.

Or so the story goes.

The Twins

The gods abandoned all but the Luminah.

When the Old Gods left the world, they saw the Luminah's despair, for they were Good, but were never favored by Civitas, had no cities or technology, no strength, and they never earned his love. The wars had scattered them across the world, and they were alone.

So to this broken race, the old gods left a gift:

The New Gods, the Twins.

And the Twins created a place just for the Luminah, where they were protected and guided: Their homeland, the Arcane Forest. And within it, the city of magic, Hightree, where the gods still live to this day.

And the goddess Nova gave them magic more powerful than any other's,

And the god Novus gave them wit and craft to rival any nation's,

And they now use their gifts not to rule or conquer, for they are humble and good, and share their wealth and knowledge with the world.

This is what the Luminah of Hightree will tell you.
